Petit Vour Beauty Subscription Box: December 2019
How is everyone doing? As I type this, I am sitting at home, going on day No. 15 of Coronavirus quarantine. It has been a roller coaster of emotions at our house these last two weeks… our dental office has closed until further notice due to recommendations from our government which means the entire family is out of work! As scary as this is, I think the timing is the universe telling me I truly need to stop, and have some time to reflect on what is truly essential and important in my life. I have been thinking about how to make this stillness happen in my life for some time… and the world ultimately found a way to make that happen for me!
I took the week to digest all the new changes in my life and now that my head has stopped spinning a bit, I am taking some of this unexpected down time to catch up with my blogging. I will have two more Petit Vour Beauty Box reviews before my series will officially end. I decided to concentrate on doing reviews for the next little bit on products that I personally buy, rather than ones I am sent. With that said, I love Petit Vour and have really enjoyed reviewing their beauty boxes over the last few years. I plan to compile a list of all my favorites from the last few years at some point in the near future so be on the lookout for that!

Highborn Defume Anointing Oil
As a lover of all things essential oils, I was pretty excited to see this in the box. This came with the cutest (but to be honest, unnecessary) burlap bag packaging. The contents of the oil itself are inside a small roller bottle making it highly convenient for putting in your car or purse. The essential oil is a combination of relaxing Palo Santo and Sandalwood and has an earthy and calming scent in my opinion. If you are big into crystals (which I am not very knowledgeable on), the roller bottle does contain small bits of quartz and black tourmaline.
I did really enjoy using this product, it was especially helpful during the Super Bowl when I needed to remain calm to cheer on my Kansas City Chiefs! It does not necessarily last too long, but if you are familiar with essential oil fragrance then you already know to expect this (in fact I did a post a while back on how to make essential oil perfumes last longer)! My main complaint with this product is just the cost, I feel that the price is pretty steep for the amount you get. Bottom Line: Love the product and the calming scent, but don’t love the price!
Cost: $35 for 10 mL
5th Dimension Sub Rosa Serum
Over these last few years I have tried many different face serums, and every time I try a new one I try to go in with a fresh frame of mind but that can certainly be hard! For this particular one, there were some things I loved about it, and others that I did not care for.
The positives first: the oil was hydrating without being greasy and left my skin feeling soft and smooth afterwards. The ingredients in the serum are amazing for skin - rose, hempseed oil, and rosehips oil. All three help to protect and restore skin cell health, and are full of antioxidants and fatty acids. Another great feature of this serum is that it is non-comedogenic so would be great for those with sensitive skin prone to breakouts.
And now for the things I didn’t love: for me the scent was nothing special and smelled more earthy than the rosy which is what I was hoping for. I also didn’t feel like this brightened my complexion or evened it out much which I was really hoping for (although it does not necessarily claim to do this). Bottom Line: A well rounded face serum that moisturizes without leaving skin greasy, with a very reasonable price.
Cost: $38 for 30 mL
Kani Botanicals Lip + Cheek Tint Balm (Vamp Shade)
When I first started to use this product I mainly used it as a cheek tint. I thought that the dark red color would be too much for my lips as I never am one to wear a bold lipstick. Well turns out, I was wrong! After using it a few times on my cheeks I decided I didn’t like the shade as I am used to a pink/coral blush. I thought I might as well try it on my lips just to say that I had and I’m so glad I did! Not only does the shade look amazing but it lasts on my lips for quite a while too! Due to the dark tint, a little goes a long way and I only need a small dab with my finger. The texture is very smooth and glossy and the product just glides right into my lips. I am so happy with the look and now use this as my go to lip shade several times a week! The product comes in 3 amazing shades although I am partial to the dark red that I received. Bottom Line: long lasting, highly pigmented lip tint at a reasonable price.
Cost: $28
Cinnamon & Burnt Orange Bali Balm
For me, this product was my favorite in the box, and that is saying something because I actually enjoyed all the products this month! By far the best part of this product is the scent. It reminds me of Christmas time with its warm tones of cinnamon and orange. When I wear it my girls tell me a smell like gingerbread LOL! Not only is the balm highly moisturizing, but the cinnamon also adds a bit of plumping to your pout. I have used this every day since receiving it and my lips honestly feel so much better. Another bonus, it lasts on your lips for hours, which is not something that every lip balm can say! Bottom Line: A little pricey for a lip balm but well worth it!
Cost: $33 for 15 mL
Overall, this was probably my favorite box I received in a long time. The lip tint and Bali Balm have been used daily since I received them 3 months ago! And with that, stay tuned for my last Petit Vour beauty box review for January 2020.
