Five On Friday: 01
Can I get a Happy Friday!!?? The weeks have been so crazy lately but after today we have nothing on the agenda for the next few weeks so I am pretty excited to get some R&R in! As I have alluded to a little, I am in the process of deciding on the direction of this blog going into 2019 and one thing that I decided to focus on was FUN!! Don’t get me wrong, I truly love posting about clean beauty and healthy living… but I feel like I’m also missing the opportunity to just share fun stuff and everyday life stuff which will not only break up the more time intensive posts for me, but also hopefully allow me to connect with my readers a bit more! With this idea in mind I have decided to try out something that I enjoy reading on other bloggers sites - Five on Friday. Every Friday (as often as possible at least) I will share five things with you all that have been on my mind, I have enjoyed or experienced, or random funny things I came across over the week. I hope you all enjoy it!

1. My Oxford Year
This is the most recent book that I finished and if you are in need of a good read I highly recommend it! When I first started the book I was not sure how I was going to like it but once I got a little ways in I could not put it down. The story is centered around a smart young girl who gets a Rhoads scholarship and finds herself in Oxford where she happens to meet and fall for a professor (such a cliche storyline but honestly its great writing and an entertaining read). As the story goes on you find that this is not a traditional love story and the romance takes a sudden and realistic turn that will leave you quickly turning the pages and by the end of the story you are grateful for the gift of love and life, such a great read! You can read more details about the book or purchase from Amazon!
2. Portland Bound
Thanks to a dental seminar my husband will be attending we are looking forward to a little getaway together in Portland at the end of this month. I’ve never been and am so excited to go, I have heard it is so beautiful there! We will be there for a few days so I need some help, anyone live there or traveled there? What are some good places to go to, either things for me to enjoy while my husband is in class or restaurants or entertainment for us to hit up in the evening?? Let me know if you all have any suggestions, currently I am eyeing the Japanese Garden and Voodoo’s donuts (of course!)!!
3. New Shoes
So I am a shoe hoarder but typically a shoe hoarder that only stocks up on sale LOL! The post holiday sales always have a good selection of cute shoes to choose from and this year was no exception. Luckily I have a small size foot which means typically I can find my size in shoe sales because I have discovered that not a lot of other people wear a size 5/6 so I have learned to use that unique trait to my advantage! I picked up a few pairs at the Free People sale (where all the sale was an extra 50% of) and am so excited about them. One pair was a bit of a stretch outside my comfort zone but they were so discounted that I had to do it (they were only $50 and regularly priced $178). They are 4 inches of blinged out glory…. seriously I am going to look like a page out of the Saturday Night Fever playbook whenever I wear them! I figured they would pair nicely with special occasion dresses so they will be nice to have on hand for those special events! The other pair was a cute summer denim mule that I am so ready to pair with some summer outfits and they were a steal at only $25 (regularly $78)!
4. Sherlock Holmes
Arshia and I + my brother in law got to sneak out on New Years Eve to catch a movie and play around at Dave and Busters to ring in 2019. We ended up seeing Holmes & Watson because I was really feeling a comedy and it did not disappoint! Will Ferrell and John Reilly are just comedy magic together and a few parts left me practically in tears from laughing so hard! If you need a good laugh and enjoy this duos type of banter and humor I definitely recommend it!
5. Comfy Socks
Guys, I have so many cozy socks that truly they necessitate a large drawer (which I do not have a spare one of, so currently they just spill out from every nook and cranny of our closet and dresser). My family knows about my affinity for these little foot blankets so I ended up with a few new pairs for Christmas (including these adorable sloth ones pictured). My husband makes fun of me on a daily basis when I walk around the house in my ginormous socks but I just ignore it because I am insanely warm and comfy beneath my “moon boots” as he calls them.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and recuperate from the holiday craziness!
