Plumeria Blooms: A DIY Fragrance Oil Perfume

As I have been getting into perfume making more and more lately, I have been toying with different ways to make different kinds of fragrances and figuring out how to make homemade perfumes last longer. You all know that I loooooove my essential oils right!? Well, nothing has changed there, but I do find myself looking for other types of scents that essential oils don’t provide. Enter FRAGRANCE OILS. You guys, fragrance oils are a game changer in the world of DIY beauty/personal care products. I have always known of the different types of fragrance oils out there but was not yet ready to enter that realm and fragrance oils themselves are certainly not of the “non toxic” category.

After doing dome research I came across a brand of fragrance oils that I felt comfortable trying out and using. Brambleberry recently changed all their fragrance oils to be phthalate free so I felt much better about using these in my homemade products. Plus Brambleberry is an awesome, reputable, and ethical company so all the more reason to let them be my fragrance oil provider! PS- Brambleberry does not have an affiliate program so I make nothing off you shopping through them but I still share them with you all because I think they are amazing and I don’t want to direct you to anything less than amazing!

Some links in this post are affiliate links which means I will receive a small commission if you purchase through the link provided. It is not necessary to shop through my links but if you do THANK YOU for your support of me and my blog!  See Disclosure For More Details

Plumeria Blooms DIY Fragrance Recipe

Begin with a clean and sterile perfume bottle. If you are unsure of the sterility of the bottle you can always boil it/ soak it in hot water for a few minutes before beginning. Next, using your mini funnel, add your fragrance oils and essential oils to the bottle. Screw the lid on tightly and mix the oils in the bottle by gently rolling the bottle in between your palms for 30 seconds.

Once your oils are mixed you will want to mix your glycerine and distilled water in a separate small bowl and then pour this mixture into the perfume bottle using your mini funnel. After adding these ingredients you will then want to close the lid to the perfume bottle and then gently mix all ingredients together, again gently between your palms for 30 seconds.

For the final step you will just open the perfume bottle and fill the rest with your alcohol. Complete the perfume making process by mixing gently again followed by storing it in a cool dark place for at least 24 hours prior to using to allow the scents to meld and strengthen. For best results allow it to sit for 1-2 weeks before using.

For this particular recipe, the vegetable glycerine and distilled water give the perfume a little more staying power as does the fragrance oil.
