Natural Stomach Tightening Belly Balm: An Easy Homemade DIY Recipe

Guys, I finally did it… I finally found a recipe for a new stomach tightening product that works in combination with my original Tummy Tightening Oil to produce outstanding results!  I am head over heels excited for this one because it is a different consistency, as you will see below, which makes it easier to use; and the combination of results is just AMAZING!  This balm is great to use on its own for reduction of stretch marks, scarring, and loose/sagging skin.   I know for a fact that I am not the only mama that was blessed with amazing children, yet in the postpartum period I discovered that I had lost the tight and firm stomach that I was accustomed to.  I will admit, it has never “truly” bothered me, I just felt it came with the territory of being a mama, and I was never willing to go through invasive procedures or buy expensive products to correct it.  Well, once I got into the world of creating my own products I knew that this was one of the first things I wanted to see if I could find a natural solution for.  I started with making the oil that I discussed earlier, and you guys, this has been by far my most popular post to date – with many people telling me how wonderful it is and how it has worked for them.  Some people also commented asking if there was a way to make a thicker consistency to make it easier to apply the product- and that is how today’s recipe was born.

As always for products like this, I like to begin with a disclaimer.  I am very confident that if you stumbled upon this article looking for a natural way to tighten your stomach or other areas of skin, you will find this to be a great resource.  With that said, everyone’s body is different and everyone’s needs and wishes are different as far as expectation for a product.  I will come right out and say that this is certainly not a magic, instant fix.  You will see results over time and not all at once.  You will also want to maintain use of the product to continue seeing long lasting results.  You should also not expect surgical tummy tuck type results because that is simply not what I am promising.  But I do feel confident that if you consistently use this product you will see changes in your skin tone and tightness.   The way I can best describe these results is that you will not notice an automatic flattening of your stomach or a reduction in clothing size… but you should notice an instant firming sensation in your stomach as well as more confidence about your midsection, all while looking forward to long term results such as reduction of appearance of stretch marks and wrinkly/sagging skin.  Alright, now let me show you how easy this is to make!

Steps And Directions For Making Belly Balm

Please do not let these ingredients overwhelm you!  The process of making this balm is actually quite easy and involves very little hands on time.  To make this recipe as easy as possible for you, I have broken it up into 8 easy to follow steps below.  If you ever need clarification on any of the steps please feel free to contact me!

1.     Place about 1- 1.5 inches of water at the bottom of your skillet and place the skillet on your stovetop

2.     Add Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Rosehips Seed Oil, Almond Oil, and Beeswax Pellets to your heat proof bowl and then set the bowl in the water in the center of your skillet

3.     Turn your stovetop on to medium low heat

4.     Heat the oil and beeswax for 15-30 minutes stirring occasionally with your spatula until all the wax is melted

5.     Once all the wax is melted, carefully remove the bowl from the skillet and place on your countertop to cool for 2-3 minutes. * You want the bowl cooled slightly, however do not forget about it sitting out because it will begin to harden as it cools!

6.     After the bowl has cooled for a few minutes add your Grapefruit Seed Extract, Vitamin E Oil, and Essential Oils and mix thoroughly with your spatula.

7.     Using your funnel pour the oil into your glass containers.  Once full place your lid on your containers and allow the jar to continue cooling to room temperature.

8.     Once at room temperature you can store your balm in the refrigerator (will last longer but not required) or in a cabinet away from heat, light and moisture.

Clean up is best handled by removing any excess oily residue from your bowl, spatula, and funnel prior to washing.  You can do this with a dry cloth or a paper towel.  The more residue that is removed prior to washing, the better as the substance is so oily that conventional washing will likely not make a dent in removal of the oil without first removing as much excess as possible.

Notes About The Balm:  For best results you will want to use this consistently (I use it every night) for an extended period of time.   Also, for optimal results place this onto your stomach when it is damp, such as after the shower, as the moisture can help pull the product into the skin more.  You will then want to rub it into place well as the massage motion also helps to allow the product to advance deeper into the skin. You can notice a slight difference immediately but the results get greater with time.  If you do prefer to use this during the daytime, be sure to place sunscreen over your stomach if it will be exposed to sunlight.  If you are on any daily medications, be sure to get clearance from your doctor first to avoid any medicine interactions.

** For faster results be sure to use this in combination with my tummy tightening oil.  If you do this I would suggest using one product in the morning and one product in the evening.  The tummy oil has a higher potency of essential oils (4% concentration) and thus does produce results a bit quicker however the combination of ingredients in this particular recipe is meant for producing outstanding results in the long term – healing the skin from the inside out.

Essential Oils That Tighten Loose Skin

So I am sure by now that you have heard either me or someone else you know talk about the wonders of essential oils.  Well I myself was a skeptic at first, but after creating many of my own products (such as this one here), I am a firm believer in their power.  The essential oils are the main “active ingredients in this balm recipe and I will share with you a little more detail here about each oil.  These oils and this balm are great for helping tighten loose skin after pregnancy or if you have lost a significant amount of weight and have extra skin around the middle.

*Note- If you are breastfeeding please get clearance form your doctor prior to using essential oils, also this is NOT a balm to use during pregnancy.

Geranium – Geranium is a spectacular oil for preventing signs of aging and keeping the skin appearing smooth and youthful looking.  This oil’s powerful astringent properties cause skin to contract and become firm.

Neroli – One of the most fragrant and powerful oils out there, Neroli does wonders on the skin.  It is the perfect cornerstone of this balm as it not only helps to smooth skin and restore wrinkles, but also helps to fade scars and stretch marks – making it perfect for the postpartum belly.  Neroli also can help restore the skin cells and thus improve the overall look of the skin as well as the skin’s tone and elasticity.  And the smell is out of this world wonderful, a soft citrusy floral fragrance that is heavenly!

Patchouli – Being a powerful astringent, this oil can shrink pores in the skin, and target wrinkles and cellulite.  Patchouli also has known anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties

Natural Skin Tightening Home Remedies

Now that you have heard a little bit about the active ingredients/essential oils to help with tightening skin, now let’s look at the base of our balm, the other natural remedies for firm skin.  These ingredients are natural sources of powerful antioxidants, which the skin is in drastic need of to undergo reconstruction and formation of new skin cells.  The best part?  These are all items that can be easily found at your local natural grocer or online shop and don’t cost a fortune!

It would be wrong of me if I didn’t also add the fact that while this balm, and these ingredients help to tighten skin, to have the greatest success you should also consider other “home remedies” such as sticking to clean eating and exercise to strengthen your core muscles.  Also be sure to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.  When you are dehydrated the skin naturally becomes wrinkly and sagging due to loss of moisture, be sure to be getting at minimum 64 ounces per day.  Natural products can certainly be helpful but when it comes to great results there is usually more to the picture.  Okay, now on to those other ingredients:

Avocado Oil – Due to its high potency of vitamin E and healthy fats, avocado oil is one of the most moisturizing natural oils out there.  This moisture helps to replenish elasticity to your skin while helping to promote collagen formation and strengthening.

Grape Seed Oil – This oil is filled with Vitamin E and antioxidants and has natural astringent properties which allow it to help tighten the top layer of your skin, a powerful ingredient used in many of the top anti aging beauty products.

Rosehips Seed Oil – High in Vitamins C & A, this oil helps promote more collagen production, as vitamin C is a building block for this crucial skin cell component.  This powerful oil has also been known to help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks.

Almond Oil – Another oil high in Vitamin E and with its moisturizing component it is a wonderful promoter of new skin cell formation thereby reducing stretch marks and scars and firming the skin.

Vitamin E Oil – Not only does Vitamin E help to moisturize the skin, but as it is a powerful antioxidant, it also helps to prevent and even reverse free radical damage (such as sunlight and environmental stressors) to the skin cells.

I hope you found this recipe to be very helpful and most importantly, easy to follow.  Please keep in mind that if you are making this balm and find yourself needing to buy many of the ingredients listed, you will be able to use all these ingredients to make this balm approximately 2 times (that’s close to 20 oz. !) without running out, or you can also use the products for many other DIY beauty products.  I know that the upfront cost can sometimes seem a little daunting, but once you do the math and see that per batch of stomach balm, the cost is quite low (between $30-$50 depending on how many batches you can make)!  For reference, a 5mL bottle of essential oil should get you around 100 drops.
