My Colorful Life: Episode 04

Have you ever had a point in your life where you stop and say- enough is enough!?  Well, that has been the point I have gotten to these past few weeks: the craziness of moving and unpacking into a home that isn’t even “our home”, and the whole unsettled feeling... it has just been plain hard.  Same with the past few years leading up until this moment, it’s all just been hard.  I do my very best to put on a smile and stay positive in public, but there have been many times when the overwhelming nature of it all has gotten to me.  And without a doubt it has gotten to our sweet girls, their happy carefree nature has soured a bit as they have been trying to navigate in a new life with less attention as their parents try to navigate their own new surroundings.  Now, here is where I have decided I need to put my foot down.  You see I have always been one to try and do every single thing I can and fill up every spare moment of the day with work, but at this point in my life I need to let go a bit.  It has gotten to be too much and my family is who truly needs me right now in all of this.  I don’t want to be a mom who looks up in twenty years and realizes I missed out on my children growing before my very eyes.  So this summer I plan to start taking more time to just be and live.  My goals are to be more present with my girls and husband, and less phone time.  Ultimately this will mean a little less of hearing from me here on the blog and Instagram but I have some ideas in the works for producing lesser quantity but higher quality posts.  As always, I value the opinions and suggestions of my readers so if there are topics you have been wanting to hear about then by all means let me know!

In other life news I am in the final stages of securing a new job where I will work part time as a pediatric dentist in Newport Beach.  The office is small and comfortable and has a very patient centered approach to how it is run so I feel like I will fit right in and I am excited for the opportunity!  Meanwhile, our family dental practice is getting up and running, it has been hard to go from owning a very busy, very successful practice to rebuilding a new practice in a new state from the ground up.  Starting a dental practice, or any business for that matter, is not an easy task (and that’s even an understatement).  Not only have we been searching for and hiring the right people to add to our office team, but then there is the business side which requires a lot of organization and moving parts. All of this is taxing yet we still have to remember the most important part in all of this is the patient care.  We are and have always been a patient centered practice, one where we genuinely care about the patient which in turn leads toward treating them the best way that we know how.  We have made lifelong friendships treating patients this way and we are certainly looking forward to extending our dental family in California!

Another exciting happening from this past month- my girls trip to Napa!  This trip seriously could not have come at a better time in my life.  It had been quite a while since I have been able to sneak away with some mom friends of mine and my mind and soul were in need of some serious girl talk.  The amazing food, drink, and beautiful surroundings were total icing on the cake.  And we made plans to do a moms + little girls trip to Chicago in December so I am pumped!!!

And to end with- as part of enjoying life and soaking up this summer with my girls I decided to make a summer bucket list to get us out of the house and enjoying our time together this summer.  If you are in or near the Orange County area, or just interested in what we will be doing, here is our list!

Well, thank you to everyone for reading and letting me ramble on all of my disconnected thoughts.  You know I always feel that it is important to keep it as real as possible on here and these overwhelmed, chaotic, and scattered thought are just where my mind (and my life) are at these days!  I am so looking forward to slowing down for a bit and enjoying this summer, I hope that you too have some plans to take it easy this summer!  Until next time friends!

All packed up... hoping to never have to pack again for the rest of my life (although odds are we will be moving again in a year LOL)!

On our way to our new home, the most emotional day of my life to date,

We actually did it, I never thought I would actually see the day when I stepped off the airplane as a new California resident, this has been such a  long time coming!

How we were welcomed to California.... our shuttle van was over an hour late so they made it up to us by picking us up in a limo which the girls dubbed "The Big Fat Car" LOL

So.Much.Unpacking.

This is a new thing lately....

Mothers Day 2018, it was a beautiful one!

Where we spend our Mother's Day - the Carlsbad Flower Fields, so stunningly beautiful!

Some of the sweetest and most amazing friends, I was so happy to be able to get away with them for the weekend!

My favorite stop in Napa- give me all the bubbly!

After returning home from Napa, we were so excited to reunite and hug it out!

We happened to stumble upon the coolest park and the girls were in love with these huge double slides!

Patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for moms coffee - because they know just how important it is LOL!

Where we spent our Memorial Day - not too shabby! Note- we only had one child who would cooperate for photos this day, such is life!
