Kids Organic Mattress Review: The Naturepedic Verse

When we first began designing our nursery (which seems like eons ago now), we ultimately did the most research on what crib and corresponding mattress we should purchase. After pouring over online reviews and debating the point for what seemed like weeks, we ultimately decided on purchasing the Naturepedic 2 Sided Crib Mattress. The girls used this mattress from infancy through toddlerhood with great success and I was very happy with our choice. When it came time to transition to a big kid bed with our recent move, I again made the choice to go with Naturepedic due to our wonderful previous experience. Naturepedic Verse: On Arrival
Must say that the shipping aspect of this mattress is one amazing feature that is easy to overlook given the fact that it has so many other remarkable features. Unlike other mattresses, there is no special delivery fees or "white glove service" necessary because the mattress arrives in a shipping box like many other standard packages would, in fact from the outside you would never know that the box contained a mattress given its relatively small size. How is this possible you ask? The mattress is tightly roll packed and vacuum sealed to carefully and safely reduce its size which in turn cuts down on shipping cost and hassle. Unpacking the mattress was very easy, the included instructions were easy to follow and it was a matter of minutes to get the mattress unsealed/unrolled and up to the bedroom in its fully expanded size!
My very first impression of the Verse mattress was that, in comparison to others, the mattress seemed very dense and heavy. Just like with many other products, I took this as a sign of quality and it certainly is such great point for comparison against other mattresses. After placing the mattress on the bed I sat on it and was very impressed with the all encompassing support that I felt WITHOUT feeling that the mattress was hard or stiff. In retrospect, upon laying down it was quite comfortable and offered the firm support that it claims to, which is so important for the developing bodies of young children.
Another great feature that I noticed right away was the overall stability due to the abundant encased coil support has the ability to isolate movement. For me this means I can come check on my child and even sit on the end of the bed without the bed creaking or motion being detected at the other end. The reason this feature is possible because of the hand assembled continuous cotton encased steel springs. This is especially a great feature in the case that a bed is needed to be shared (although that is not our case as our girls certainly would never go to sleep and would talk all night long if they shared a bed LOL)!

For me this recommendation comes with multiple happy experiences with their mattresses as well as their overall business model and commitment to delivering high quality, safe products in an age where toxins and chemicals are the norm.
