A DIY Face Serum Recipe For Gorgeous Glowing Skin
The time has come for me to share with you another one of my very first DIY beauty products and one that I continue to use everyday and see amazing results from! My other amazing DIY recipe that I use daily has been met with great popularity and I expect this one to as well because the results truly speak for themselves!
Now, before I delve into the details let me get specific with you on who this wonderful face serum will benefit the most. So you all probably know by now that I had twin girls a few years back, well lets just say that there were so many changes to my body (and my life LOL) following their birth. My skin, especially my face, just remained so dry no matter what I put on it. I should also add that I am very prone to breaking out when trying out new face products so this was an all around difficult year for my skin. This is until I discovered the concept of actually putting oil serums on your face to combat dryness. In the past I always went oil free for everything to prevent breakouts but after researching a bit more I found that if you are using the right type of high quality oils they can actually work wonders for your skin! So, if you too are battling with a dull, tired, and dry face then read this recipe below it will be sure to turn all that around and leave your face glowing!

DIY Face Serum Recipe
Place your tablespoon of Rosehips Oil into your container and then fill the bottle to approximately 80% full with you Jojoba Oil. You will now add in your essential oils and Vitamin E oil, close the lid tightly and shake. Easy as that! As far as directions of use: I use this every night before bed (I did use it in the morning too at first until my face started becoming less dry, the only thing is that since it does make your face a tad on the oily side it will make you makeup run a bit.). Also, your Vitamin E will act as a bit of a preservative but otherwise this serum is preservative free so you will want to be sure to store it in a cool, dark and dry place. This should keep for approximately six months although you will likely use it all up much sooner if you use it daily like I do! I use about 10 drops at a time, you can use more or less depending on your needs.
Oil Properties And Benefits
If you have made any of my DIY products at home, you know I am always clear about the concentration of essential oils used in the recipe as I believe a little goes a long way. Here with the face serum you will have approximately a 4% concentration of essential oils which act as the "active ingredient". So how do these ingredients work together to produce outstanding results you ask? Read below as I list what each ingredient can do for your skin:
Jojoba Oil - There are many oils out there that can be used as your main carrier oil for face serums, however Jojoba is the best oil for dry skin as it can act just as sebum does. Sebum is the skins natural oil which tends to lessen with age and hormone changes (such as in pregnancy). The jojoba oil will also form a barrier over your skin to protect from the natural elements that tend to dry out skin. This barrier then helps to retain any natural moisture already within the skin.
Rosehip Oil - This amazing oil is high in antioxidants like Vitamins C and A. Collagen is the primary building block of healthy, elastic skin and Vitamin C is necessary for collagen production. It has also been shown that due to it's small molecule size, Vitamin A can penetrate into deeper layers of tissue than other oils lacking a high concentration of Vitamin A. These properties make Rosehip Oil able to stimulate strengthening of skin cells and help produce new skin cells. This leads to fresh and glowing skin!
Vitamin E Oil - Vitamin E oil is amazing at moisturizing dry skin but it is also chalk full of antioxidants which helps repair free radical damage to the skin (such as that from sun exposure and environmental pollutants).
Frankincense Essential Oil - This powerful essential oil has cytophylactic properties which helps with cell regeneration and turnover. This means it can help heal damaged cells and promote creation of new healthy cells. Frankincense oil also has astringent properties which by definition means that it has the ability to contract and tighten the skin tissue. These amazing properties leave your skin tightened with fresh new and healthy skin cells!
Geranium Essential Oil - Geranium essential oil not only helps to moisturize the skin but it also helps to lighten any dark spots and helps even skin tone due to its promotion of blood circulation. Fora anyone who is acne and breakout prone, geranium also has strong antiseptic properties.
Lavender Essential Oil - Lavender essential oil helps to calm skin irritations and soothe skin just as its scent helps calm the mind and body. Lavender also contains natural antioxidants which can fight signs of aging.
